To the Vet'.

Thursday (20.10.2016) was a bad day for Tipsy. She had had a fight with a local invader a couple of weeks ago and been out of sorts for a while but by Thursday she had lost a lot of weight and was favouring her left rear paw and was very poorly. A trip to the local vet revealed that she had broken her left rear paw and that it had become infected. The vet’s solution was an operation on the infected digit removing the broken and infected part. He was however worried about the anaesthetic as Tipsy is over nineteen years old!

We left Tipsy with him for the day and she was operated on that afternoon. We collected her at five o’clock that evening. She was, needless to say, very vocal and not at all happy
about her condition. She was still much sedated and could not get to her feet. Her left rear paw was bandaged up. At home all she wanted was to get out of her basket and make sure she was really home. She drank water copiously and eventually woke up enough to eat.
Her appetite had returned with a vengeance and she quickly devoured a couple of sachets of “Whiskers”. She was very unsteady on her feet and the bandage on her rear leg was slippery on the tiled floor making locomotion difficult.

After a disturbed night during which she had slept on the bed upstairs then downstairs and eventually in the garden she had somewhat returned to her wilful self. She can now jump up on the lounge sofa and the bed by herself.
She has to keep the bandage on her leg on until th end of the month but hopefully all will be well when it is removed.
